Hello and Welcome,

I am Cllr Steve Bowles, the newly elected Chairman of Aylesbury Garden Town and Cabinet portfolio holder for Town Centre Regeneration. The first thing I want to do is to say is a big thank you on behalf of the myself, and the Aylesbury Garden Town team, to Cllr. Bill Chapple. Bill, the retiring Chairman, has supported the project from the start and has been key to leading the Masterplan development. I am delighted that Bill remains part of the team serving as Vice-Chairman on the Board. Thank you, Bill.

Having Garden Town status gives Aylesbury a national profile. Our expectations of what a Garden Town for Aylesbury should be are high and I am looking forward to working with the team, residents, partners and our stakeholders as we continue to progress the amazing work involved in delivering this ambitious project.
We held the first meeting of a newly constituted Board in June 2020 and I was able to give a warm welcome to many new faces from the Aylesbury community. They have joined at a very exciting time and their special knowledge of their communities will be invaluable to our future achievements. Delivering the aims as set out in our Masterplan – to make Aylesbury a healthier and better place to live, work and play requires involvement from all aspects of our community.

Work on the Masterplan began in 2018 and is the transformational vision for Aylesbury. It has now been approved by the Council and I’d like to congratulate everyone that has played a part in its development. So, if you attended one of our workshops or joined us at one of our consultation events you have played a big part in making it happen.

It’s been a huge undertaking but we are now, there!

So, what happens now?

Well now the exciting work really begins as we move into the delivery stage of the Masterplan and start work on those big transformational projects that will really change Aylesbury over the next decade.
