After three years at the helm Councillor Bill Chapple OBE handed over the role of Chairman to Councillor Steve Bowles, the newly appointed Cabinet Member for Town Centre Regeneration, at the AGT Board meeting held on 16 July.

Following the formal adoption and approval of The Aylesbury Garden Town (AGT) Masterplan by Full Council on 15 July it is now green lights all the way to transform Aylesbury into a vibrant successful, green and sustainable town for everyone.

Work has already started on several key projects including the Gardenway, a green orbital park and cycleway, and regeneration work on the town centre and to help with its’ recovery as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic. The recent HIF funding awarded to Buckinghamshire Council will now realise key infrastructure projects, such as sections of the link road network, new schools and health centres that are essential to delivering the AGT Vision and priorities.

Councillor Steve Bowles, Chairman of AGT Board said, “Over the past three years I have been proud to be connected with the garden town as its Champion. I am grateful for Bill’s vision and dedication that has delivered the Masterplan and I am excited by what the future holds for Aylesbury.”

“Our success will only be delivered by working with our partners and communities to fulfil the aspirations to make Aylesbury a great place to live, work and visit and do business and I look forward to being part of making that happen.”
